George Moakley
I’ve been a photographer since my college days. A close friend explained to me that the best naturalists were also photographers, so I saved to buy an Olympus OM-1 (fully manual to avoid frying electronics if I dropped it in a salt marsh). Over the years, the OM-1 was replaced with an Olympus D-600 (early 1mp digital camera), an Olympus E-10 (4mp SLR with fixed lens) and, most recently, with a Nikon D300 (love this camera!!).
Most of my photographic attention is given to the very small and overlooked; I'm fascinated by the beautiful but tiny things most folks miss as they walk along. My favorite subjects were tiny flowers and insects found along hiking trails and parking lots. I especially enjoy capturing key structures or behaviors notable to the subject (still a field biologist at heart).
Hope you enjoy my world!
